I would like to install faux wood blinds in my home. Most of my windows are between 74 to 76 inches in length. Most pre-packaged blinds are 72 inches at the longest.

My question is this — do you think that 72 inches would be long enough? i.e., will the bar at the top of the blinds that controls them take care of the length issue? OR do I have to get blinds custom-made?

Thanks, let me know if I’m not being clear.

…and I need them cut an inch to an inch and 1/4 to make them fit in my window. What are the chances that their competitor would cut them? I’m not sure where to go to get them cut. Ordering the blinds custom would be nearly three times the amount that I paid for these. In case anyone is wondering, the blinds I bought are 2" hardwoods, 72×72. I need them 71×72.

    Thanks for any suggestions!
The only reason I didn’t go to the competitor in the first place is they didn’t carry the size I need — the closest they had was 66X72.
The reason, according to the salesperson, is they have had problems cutting the wood blinds before. If that was true, then why does it not say that anywhere? Personally, I think she didn’t want to do it. She didn’t seem really helpful or knowledgable.

I am renting a room in my home where I also live. Past renters have always had their own possessions, but this person is looking for a furnished room. We were a really good match so I agreed to furnish the room for him. What "in general" is expected in a furnished room?

      I am thinking:
bed (mattress and boxspring for sure, bedframe optional but I already bought one, anyway)
      dresser
      nightstand
lamp (either floor lamp or for nightstand? or both…?)
tv (tv may rest nicely on top of dresser, if not, also a stand?)
desk optional (since I am not providing computer and don’t know if he has one)

The window has custom blinds, but no curtains - Am I supposed to provide curtains or only if it’s my own preference for the room?

No art on walls. Should I be hanging a picture or mirror somewhere?

Am I supposed to provide the bed linens, bedspread, pillows, etc? DVD/VCR player? These are the extras I am absolutely not sure about but leaning toward NO is the standard.

If you have provided a furnished room for someone, please respond, and let me know how well your stuff was treated.

      Thanks.
So a tv is not a standard expectation? Just checking…
