I just got a house and the last thing left are blinds/shades. I am down to faux wood blinds and roller shades. Rollers woulld be a lot cheaper due to the color I want but what you do think of them?

Roller shades do not stand up to the test of time. However, roller shades now come in a variety of colors and fabric selections. A roller shade on a bare window always looks unfinished to me; therefore a valance of some type really does give the window a finished edge. Now, a shade and a valance would probably total in cost just under the price of faux wood blinds.
I think I would go with the blinds if you are in it for the long haul. If you think you will redecorate as your style changes in the future, then I would go with the roller shades with a valance.

Hi, I personally love roller shades and the variety of choices they offer. They are easy to operate and maintain. I live in a high dust area so would not have a blind as a horizontal service like that ulitmately collects dust whereas the roller shade does not. I have solar shades as privacy is not an issue for me and I like to be able to see out my windows and enjoy the view. My windows have a beautiful woodwork finish around them so I have inside mount roller shades as why do I want to cover that. If I want I could put a valance but that is the most I would do. http://www.windowshadesblind.com/roll-up-window-shades.html Hope this helps.
